mighty rice® is a boutique rice producer based in Port Louis, Mauritius, established since 2009.

Rice has always been Mauritius’ most important staple food, with 100% of it (c. 76,000 tonnes) previously imported. This made her vulnerable to trading fluctuations. With the end of guaranteed price and quota-free access for Mauritian-produced sugar to the EU, many smallholders now produce uneconomic sugar crops. Through our proposed Rice Outgrower Scheme, we hope to support local farmers in converting their lands from sugarcane production to producing mighty rice®, guaranteeing a fair price for their harvest.

mighty rice® is now the largest agricultural development in Mauritius outside the production of sugarcane. We’ll soon bring delicious mightily healthy rice to the world.
